Question: Why am i nauseated and vomiting after my tooth extraction?
afterward, i was told to take two amoxicillin right away, and i also took a vicoden, because even though the whole rest of my face was numb, the extraction area was not anymore. i honestly didnt eat anything with the medication because all i could think about was the pain. i fell asleep and woke up feeling no pain from the vic, but pretty dizzy and nauseated. i took a couple more short naps.
however, now that both the vicoden and novocaine have started to wear off, i ate a piece of bread to see if it would help with the nausea and i quickly threw it up. i also ate some dinner after i threw up, but i felt extremely nauseated again half way through and couldnt finish.
i thought it might just be from the vicodin, but my dad said the novocaine could cause it too? i mean, 6 shots is alot...if it helps i only weigh 105 and am 19.
he also prescribed ibuprofen, and idk what to take now because it's hurting again but i dont want the nausea.
and i was pretty worked up and nervous earlier...but that was over 8 hours ago

The vicoden is the likely cause, 50% of people who are given vicoden get an upset stomach from it. I know it is hard to eat when you feel crappy but eating something like soup and crackers or pb&j about 15 minutes before taking the pain meds usually helps. It is important to take the ibuprofen as well because it will control any swelling and swelling causes pain. If all else fails call your dentist tomorrow he can give you advise or possibly change your meds. Good luck
