Did Bobak Morshed in Santa Monica Butchered my teeth?!

Question: Did Bobak Morshed in Santa Monica Butchered my teeth?
I'm here in Santa Monica ,CA, and my family have been going to Bobak Morshed since 2009.
He was referred to us by a friend (whom no longer recommends him).
My wife had her wisdom teeth pulled about a month ago and it cost us $718.00 out of pocket plus insurance paid an Additional $830.00 to the Dentist on our behalf.
When we received our Explanation of Benefits sheet from our Insurance company we were looking it over and it stated that the patients was to pay $143.00 for this procedure.
So we called the insurance company and had them to explain exactly what this meant.
They explained that all we were suppose to pay for this service was $143.00 and they didn't understand why Bobak Morshed charged us $718.00.
So we called the Dentist office equipped with what our insurance company had told us.
The Personal at the office tried to explain (or pull the covers over our eyes) the charges but we was not hearing any of that.

Finally Bobak Morshe did admit he over charged us but now he wont call or take our calls.
Iits been almost six weeks and he have not called us or sent us the amount that they overcharged us ($485).
After this incident we decided to look at past payment and sure enough the same thing happen with our other claims.
The total amount owed to us at this point is $2,960. Bobak Morshed has been overcharging us like this since 2009.
Please let me know what to do in this matter.
Should I let Bobak Morshed ruin my teeth or how do i get my money back?

Answers:

First, did he ruin your teeth?

If not, then don't dwell on that. The only reason that your fee would be lowered would be if this dentist has an agreement with the insurance company to accept a lower fee for services to you or other people with a similar plan. If he has infact agreed to do this with the insurance company, then you are correct and you should be returned your money. If he does not have an agreement with the insurance company then it is his fee and his decision whether or not to refund you his normal fee.

If he has an agreement with the insurance company and does not give you your money back than it is a matter for small claims court, get a lawyer and try to get your money back. You may also want to contact the insurance company and have them remove him from their plan.

Good Luck!
