HAVE YOU EVER CHEWED TRIDENT GUM?!

Question: HAVE YOU EVER CHEWED TRIDENT GUM?
You also might have read on the box that it contains PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE. I have read about and don't know what to think. What do you know about this?

Answers:

It's an amino acid, and is one of the essential acids. It's good for you, don't worry.

"Phenylalanine is found naturally in the breast milk of mammals. It is used in the manufacture of food and drink products and sold as a nutritional supplement for its reputed analgesic and antidepressant effects. It is a direct precursor to the neuromodulator phenylethylamine, a commonly used dietary supplement."

And if you read the ingredients, they are listed in descending order of amount. So if it's like 11th out of 15 ingredients, there's not a whole lot of it in that product. There's probably not a whole lot of it in trident gum either, especially considering the serving size of a stick of gum. Don't worry about it.

Like someone else said, they have to put a notice on the packaging to warn people who might be allergic to it.

it is fine. its just warning people who should not have this if they have PKU.
