or if you would like need a root canal they would just pull the tooth?
Answers:
If the dead baby tooth develops an abscess way before it's due to come out, then that infection may harm the developing permanent tooth under it. In that case, a root canal or extraction should be considered. Some teeth die without causing an infection (like from a hit or fall as oppose to a cavity) and could be left in without much consequence to the developing tooth underneath.
Most dentist like to keep baby teeth in as long as possible because extracting them can cause shifting of adjacent teeth and crowding of permanent teeth.
