Answers:

Whether it hurts or not depends on how good a dentist you have and what kind of braces you get.

It can be a really big thing to go into the office afraid. It will make the process longer than it could be and it might even make it hurt more. Here are some tips for not being as afraid: Listen to music on your iPod or something on the way there. Read a good book to take your mind off it. You can listen to music while getting your braces on! If you don't have an iPod, go over your favorite songs in your head - just don't sing along or you'll mess up the braces! Tell the dentist you're nervous and he'll help you - he's an expert at this!

You can talk right after getting them, but it might take a while to get totally used to them. It hurts a bit but not too badly (at least for me. It might be different for you!)

For the procedure, they first dry your teeth. That's really weird and it feels bad. It was in my opinion the worst part. Then they put a glue on your teeth. It tastes absolutely horrible - second worst part. The actual part where you get your braces on is painless and will be done before you know it!

Foods: Have soft foods. Some you might like are pasta, soup, mac and cheese, yogurt, applesauce, ice cream, popsicles (as long as you don't bite them), jell-o, and smoothies.

Good luck, hope this helped!

I got braces!

Installation is painless, but feels and seems quite strange. The put forms in your mouth to jack it open, glue pieces of metal on your teeth, and then run a bunch of wires through them. At some point you will want to laugh your butt off because you will have a ton of long wires hanging out of your mouth. They get tightened up and cut with something like needle nose pliers.

You can talk. You might have a little pain right after, and you might not. If so, just have soup to eat until pain goes away. It won't last long.

When they adjust your braces, you will have slight pain for a day, or maybe a few. An aspirin is enough if it gets rough, but I never needed any.

Thay should give you a little kit when you get your braces. I got mine a century ago, so my kit had different stuff in it. One thing was little pieces of very soft wax, that were to be placed over any part fo the braces i they started scratching th inside of my mouth. They may include special cleaning tools, stuff like that.

Nothing to be scare dof.

Everyone is different and have different pain response. Milkshakes, yogurt, ice-cream and Panadol (if you can take it). Good luck.

I know what it is.
