What does it feel like to have teeth pulled out?!

Question: What does it feel like to have teeth pulled out?
I have got to have two teeth taken out tomorrow because I am over crowded and then I have got to have braces fitted. Can someone who has had this done please tell me what it feels like and how do they put the braces on?

I'm really nervous, is there anything to worry about?

Answers:

I have had this done for exactly the same reason.

They anesthetize your mouth, so it doesn't hurt at all (except for the needle that they use to inject the anesthetic which is uncomfortable). After that you can feel the pulling force on your tooth but it's just weird, again it doesn't hurt at all. It takes a matter of seconds and then your mouth will start bleeding, but they'll fill it up with gauze. The recovery can take a few days and it will be hard to eat anything but they give you painkillers. After a few days the whole process is done with and you're back to normal. Nothing too terrible.

As for the actual braces they will make a mold of your teeth (they just put some goo in your mouth and you sit there for a minute and then they take it out, it's not bad at all). The actual braces will feel really weird at first and the first few days of wearing them will make your teeth hurt, and they will hurt again every time they are tightened.

You will feel pressure like pressing down hard but NO pain, if at any time you are sore you stop the dentist and tell him. It is normal to be nervous, most people are, you must trust your dentist and relax when you are in the chair, the extractions will not take long at all. The braces are a bit more intense and take time, EACH tooth must be cleaned and wiped, then a small square bracket is glued onto the surface and left to set, then a band is placed around each bracket, any colour you choose, then a wire is placed along the whole line of brackets, this takes time, weeks, months even, ask the orthodontist to explain everything to you as its your mouth and you should know everything about your treatment plan. Good Luck and be patient, its worth it.

I am a dental nurse in the UK

Teeth pull you shouldn't feel much of at the time. As you get feeling back, it is just a dull sore that fades away. Braces on the other hand, hurt like hell. They fit your teeth with metal bands then glue on the brackets. Then they lace a metal wire through and tighten it up, then clip the excess wire. It hurts like a song of ***** because your mouth is already sore from the spacers the put in to make room for the bands to go around your teeth. Braces are an all around painful experience.

I have had both teeth pulled and braces, but not close together.

Trust a dental phobic, you will not feel pain.

The worst part for me is the noise, because it's happening in your mouth you will hear alot of cracking and grinding noises and those are really unsettling for me.

For the most part it's just pressure, you will feel the dentist pulling, but will feel no pain.
The only reason you feel pressure is because they can't freeze your whole head.

Trust me, it's not so bad.

I don't know much about braces but something I do know:

You'll get to choose your colour, avoid yellow and clear. The clear will turn yellow after wear.
The best colour is blue because it will make your teeth appear more white.

Dental phobic for 15 years.

I know the feeling. I had my teeth pulled out two months ago and I was so scared about it. I'm scared of dentist check up's and so this was so scary. I was shaking and I got really worked up for nothing. If you ask for the numbing cream, you don't even feel the ingection. You feel the tooth being tugged at, but there is no pain. If you have any other questions just email me.
Good luck and don't worry, you'll be fine (worrying is the worst bit)

if im brutally honest, the injections hurt more

i didnt feel the actual tooth coming out but the injections were a sharp unconfortable pain in my mouth, but its over really quick and then everything is fine for the teeth to be taken out"

so no mate, theres nothing to worry about! you'll must be brave tho! :)

I had to have 4 teeth taken out (overcrowding)
and then wear braces for 18 months .. when I was younger.

Having teeth taken out doesn't "hurt" as such.
Under 'LOCAL' anesthetic you can feel a 'pulling' sensation .. NO PAIN !!
Under 'GENERAL' anesthetic you're asleep and feel nothing.

Braces don't 'hurt' .. but your jaw can 'ache' a bit and painkillers can help when it does.

GOOD LUCK.

My mom is a dentist so i basically trust her. but everything can be scary at first, what i would do is, ask if the dentist can numb your gums, also get something squishy to squeeze when or if it does hurt a bit. get some music and listen to it on your ipod to distract you from the loud noise. also ask your parents to buy you icecream afterwards! good luck!

dont worry about anything they'l mostlikly be a sharp pain once as they pull and uncomfortable ness when they fit the braces but part from that ull be fine, just imagen if u didnt have the drugs to take out the pain...., best of luck

after they take out your two teeth they will fit your teeth with this stuff
it tastes just like tooth paste its so they can get the shape of your teeth for the braces

17 and with braces

u just feel awkward
