Removal of Wisdom Teeth..?!

Question: Removal of Wisdom Teeth..?
Hello.. I'm literally freaking out I feel like smashing my head into a wall to knock the teeth out. It's all because i'm so scared to get them removed. I hear they need to knock you out with this gas, which already freaks me out to begin with. Next, they need to put a knife to my gums and cut away just to get to the teeth they need to pull? Okay there buddy.. And then they need to pull out 4 teeth. WOW HELP ME!!! And then I hear it hurts like hell to recover.. Please help me out and tell me other options or what to do/think! I don't know what stage i'm at but i'm 16 and my dentist said that 2 years would be way to much to wait and recommended a safety net time being no more then a year.

Please help! Thanks :)
Matthew

You sound like me a few months ago.

I had one (not all) removed, and I'm a bit older than you. The gas is perfectly fine, and I think that was the best route to go for me-because I was so freaked that they were cutting into my mouth!! You will not feel a single thing, at all.

The pain afterwards was way worse inside my mind than in actuality. I actually had a ***** of a sore throat, because after they removed the tube from my mouth (when they put you to sleep) they ended up scratching my throat. That hurt...a lot-more than my teeth. You'll be fine, honestly. The most pain I had from my actual teeth was when I accidentally slept on the wrong side of my mouth and put pressure on the affected area. The medications they give you are excellent, you won't be in any pain!
(Recovery time for me was much longer because I had another thing done inside my mouth)

lol calm down hun
I had mine out just over a year ago and i was awake during the surgery.
they numb you so you don't feel anything and the worst part of recovery is eating mush for a week and the swelling. it doesn't hurt much if you keep your wounds clean and they heal quickly. also they'll give you some pretty strong pain killers (i used them once the first day) that will make you sleep anyways.
just make sure to me very thorough with your cleaning.

Wow... who told you that crap???? If they put you to sleep (which is like putting on an oxygen mask) all that crap won't matter whether its true or NOT because when you wake you have a grace period of 30 min. before you feel soreness. It's not a bad soreness... nothing that your pain medication won't help. It takes a whole 3 DAYS to recover and your fine. Soft foods the first day... That's it
