why does my gum hurt so much and is this normal?!

Question: Why does my gum hurt so much and is this normal?
my molars are still growing in because my teeth are really behind in developing. my gums are killing me on one side because one of my molars is coming in. its almost fully developed and in place but then part of my gum is like covering up half of the tooth. i dont know if this is normal and that is what is causing the pain. it also looks like that part of the gum is kind of swollen. any ideas on what this is? does it sound really serious?

Answers:

I'm not 100% sure but it doesn't sound too serious. When my teeth were coming through I had a similar sort of thing and it literally throbs, but it's just the position they're growing in and your gums are not used to it...it should settle down soon, just make sure it doesn't become inflamed when you brush. If you are really concerned then you should probably go to the dentist.

There is a possibility that you have an abscess, which can kill you, talk to your dentist. (that would be if it was a bump that felt like it was full of puss.) Not trying to scare you or anything...
