How long do rubber bands usually stay on your braces for?!

Question: How long do rubber bands usually stay on your braces for?
I was supposed to have my braces for 2 years but its been 8 months and my orthodontist said i am moving very fast. all of my teeth are now perfectly straight but i am waiting for a small gap to finish closing. when the gap closes they are going to put the rubber bands on for the over bite. how long do you usually wear those bands for? Like 2 months? And also, are they painful?

Thanks for the help!

Answers:

how long your going to have rubber bands all depends on your teeth and your jaw. some people only have them for a few months towards the end. but ive had them for a lot of time i have had braces. also there are different thicknesses for rubber bands and also different formations. ive had 2 different rubber bands and about 4 different formations. they dont really hurt, at first they hurt cause theyre a lot of pressure on your teeth but after a while you wont even feel like your wearing them anymore. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR THEM ALL THE TIME!! AND DONT TRY TO DOUBLE UP ON RUBBER BANDS THINKING IT WILL GO FASTER! if you dont wear them or if you double up on rubber bands you will just make the time you have braces longer.

i have braces and have had them for about 2 years now. im getting them off within the next 2 months.

I only wore them for about 1 month. It changes your bite, but it's not really painful, just uncomfortable. The whole jaw (mandible) is going to be moved forward. You might find that when you close your teeth, they will meet-up sooner than you're used to. The way you chew might change a bit too. You'll still be able to force your jaw back tot he old position, but it's normal resting place will be a bit forward. The only time there was pain was when a rubber band snapped, or I chewed to quickly before I was used to the new position. Clacking your teeth together when you're not expecting it can be quite painful.

ummm no one can answer how long for? your orthodontist will no. if you have to wear the small ones they hurt. the bigger ones are easier.

usually bite correction elastics are there for 3-4 months.
they are not painful at all, just slight pressure on all the teeth.
you haveto daily change them.
