My jaw aches, but my tooth doesnt! What is this?!

Question: My jaw aches, but my tooth doesnt! What is this?
I have a cavity and need an extraction done on my bottom back tooth, but have a temp filling in now.... the tooth itself doesnt hurt a bit! But underneath into the jaw, when I move my tongue to eat, it feels sore deep under.

Does this mean an infection, or is it just my body telling me somethings not right over there?

Answers:

umm it just means you like chewing a lot of gum... if u chew gum all day youre jaw will hurt bad the next day

me=)

You will probably need to ask your dentist. It may just mean that the whole thing will feel better once the bad tooth is out. The nerve inside the tooth may be dead already so you wouldn't feel any pain from that, but the jaw bone is sore from the pressure. Just a thought...Hope it's better soon.
