Hey, best thing to do is tell the dentist your fear and ask them to put some gel on to numb it first once they have done that it doesn't hurt you only feel a slight pinch for a few seconds then you are fine. If seeing the needle scares you best thing to do is close your eyes and if you have a mp3 player take it with you and just try to focus on the music and before you know it the needle will be done. Just think after you get your tooth out its a great excuse to eat ice cream :)

Good luck with your braces aswell
:)

Been to the dentist a few days ago to get a tooth out and terrified of needles :P

Hi,

Sounds like you might have had a bad experience.

1. Please inform your dentist about your fear, he will try and make this experience as comfortable for you as possible.

2. Ask for a numbing gel beforehand.

3. You could ask for laughing gas (nitrous oxide), which may help.

I have had these numbing injections before, and they feel like a scratch / prick. I personally didn't find them too bad, but just prepare yourself mentally and take a few deep breaths before you go in. If you have someone to come in with you who can talk to you, comfort you during the injection this will help calm you down. :D

And don't make any jerky movements when the dentist gives you an injection. This will only make your fear worse, and I can tell that you want to go through with this.

Just think if the lovely result after your braces.

Good luck

You have to get those too, huh? Well, I had to go through that as well, and I am not exactly a needle person either. But it really depends on where the needle is. If it's on the gum where there's plenty of space, it's fine. But if it's near the mandible (jaw bone) then it can hurt a bit. Other than that, it's a breeze.

Personal experience, I had 8 removed.

I don't like the dentist much, had a few fillings and word of advice the injection is much better then doing it without. It's only like a little prick then your gum feels all cold slowly like have ice cold orange juice. Im sure you will be fine, think happy thoughts :)

My experience

I had an injection cause I needed a filling, that was like when I was a kid. I'd say it's an uncomfortable pain, not a horrible one. That's the only way I can explain it. Don't worry about it, the needle only goes in literally for 10 seconds.

It will onl feel like a poke and it wont hurt that much, but you may feel the needle inside for a few seconds because sometimes the numbing gel doesn't work .
but it's nothing that can't be handled. you'll be fine i can assure you. :)

Good Luck!

No. It's not that bad! I've had injections before, yeah, it does hurt a little, but not that much that makes you cry. I' sure that you can handle it... ;)

Sorry for the bad English.

Yes but life is tough honey. Start getting used to it because you have a heck of a lot more to deal with in your life.

i don't think they hurt as much as the ones you get in your arms and such.
and just think how awesome your smile will be once you get this all done. : )

the dentist can use some numbing gel first before giving you the injection

Just a wee bit
