I'm at day 6 in recovery from a lower wisdom tooth extraction, would I be s!

Question: I'm at day 6 in recovery from a lower wisdom tooth extraction, would I be safe from dry socket yet?
the tooth was only partially impacted and required no special treatment for removal, no stitches, no tearing, not a whole lot of stress on the tissue whatsoever. I see a whitish film-like substance at the base of the hole and it appears as though it's gotten smaller. I can deal with the discomfort with ibuprofen and I have had a bit of codeine as well (but now running out). Also salt rinsing, have not eaten ANYTHING solid since the extraction and don't smoke or drink, nothing out of straws, though it appears that the blood clot is no longer there. I have some achiness up in the ear by that side of my jaw where the tooth came out but dunno if this is related to possible dry socket or not? As I said, I'm not in excruciating pain though it is damned uncomfortable and still hard to function without painkillers. Is it healing fast enough that I'm possibly not going to get dry socket? Sorry for all the questions, just hoping this is healing pain rather than early stages of dry socket... would appreciate a dentist's opinion too. I will go back to my dentist if I have to, but I don't want to look silly if there isn't anything wrong.

Answers:

Yes...i think your ok...if your concerned call the dentist to calm ur nervous...i didnt eat normaly for like a week and a half after....i wouldnt worry...and as far as painkillers go just be careful with the codeine
