Ho long will I have to wear a retainer?!

It all depends on how your treatment goes. I had braces for a year and a half, i got them off last month, and I have to wear retainers 24/7 (for now at least). Well, if you want your teeth to stay the way they are, then yes wear your retainer forever. Sound silly, right? It's not, though, your teeth can shift even when you're in your 30s. Retainers aren't exactly as bad as some portray them to be. Mine don't make me speak funny at all. Just talk to your orthodontist, and I'm sure your questions will be cleared up.

You wouldn't spend the rest of your life talking funny, you get use to talking with them. But you will have to wear them for a long time. Usually you where them 24/7 for one year to five years. Then you only wear them at night. I have to wear them for three years 24/7 then overnight for 10 years. Like the other person said, probably until your 30ish. I don't have to wear mine after I turn 30 (so far!) I'm only 18, so that's a really long time, but oh well. At night is nothing. During the day I find annoying, but not to bad. You do get use to talking in them though.

you most likely will have to wear it until you're 30 or so. probably an overnight one, those aren't so bad. you just put them on before bed
