Why do non-smokers piss me off so bad?!

What are you talking about? I'm a non-smoker and I like clean air. I like going to bars and restaurants and not have to decide what I'm going to wear. I don't have to worry so much about second hand smoke or having my eyes water and feel like I'm sick because of smokers. Smokers have treaded on non-smokers' rights for years.

Oh, you mean the concepts that we are slowly killing America? That we are inconsiderate? That we have nothing better to do than sit on the porch and smoke and blow the smoke in their perfect little angels faces? Yeah. I got ya. You know I have a scrapbook full of newspaper clippings about people smoking and driving killing thousands (unlike drinkers) or smokers killing people for money to buy more smokes.People have to pick something to gripe about and this year the smokers just got hit hard.
I know what you are talking about I think.... maybe. When I was a smoker I would go out to resturants/bars with my mother and she would get all irritated at the smokers b/c of the smoke. I didnt smoke in front of her. But she would make loud comments about the smoke and whatnot just trying to make them mad. I would say hey mom it's a bar, people are going to smoke in here. But I dont smoke anymore so I understand both sides of this argument. To answer your Q, they are not from Mars. They just dont like smoke.

Are there some common things that you dont practice or approve of but others do. Now picture that being done so blatantly on your face, I mean practice a little empathy! Passive smokers are more affected that actual smokers!

The question should read why smokers piss me off? Why do they have the right to smoke around others and blow that smoke around those who do not want it?
I sympathize with you. I used to be a smoker, started at age 11. Quit cold turkey 3 years ago after 27 years. If you're a long-time smoker, you would not understand where they're coming from until you've quit. I now see both sides. Unfortunately, people who have never smoked never will understand because they just see it as a dirty habit and not an addiction (smoking is an addiction to the drug nicotine). They don't realize how difficult it is to quit.
I miss smoking sometimes, but I also now realize how badly I stunk when I smoked. I also remember what it was like to be shunned by non-smokers, so I never say anything to smokers if their smoking bothers me. I simply move away from them or leave the area. I KNOW what an addiction it is and how HARD it is to quit.
Even three years later, I will open a box in my basement from when we moved into our house four years ago and I can't believe the stink that still permeates some of those things.
You want people to be respectful of you, but you have to be respectful of them as well. I'm not saying you're not! If you are being respectful of non-smokers and they're still acting like jerks, there's not much you can do about it except shrug and get on with your day. Some people just aren't happy regardless.
Well in your defense, some people do really overreact. I mean, just because someone smokes, it does not make them a murderer as suggested above. However, you must take others feelings into consideration, they have a right to not inhale second hand smoke, just as we have a right to smoke.
