Paramedics who are average learners?!
Question: Any paramedics out there who are average learners, but great paramedics.
Let me know what you had to do to get through paramedics schooling and what you have to do to keep on top of everything.

i know a few medics that are book dumb, but i would trust them with my life more than the ones that are book smart... just because you have all of the knowledge in your head, doesnt mean you can do it...
as for me, i find the more i study something the less i retain.. it was easier for me not to read the chapter, listen to the lecture, and then a few of us would quiz each other on the way to class before the tests!!!
When I went to medic school a few years ago, I was having a HUGE transformation in life. I broke up with a boyfriend of 4 years, moved 500 miles away (to go to paramedic school), lived out of my bronco, and played in a traveling band.
I don't know what I was thinking! But, it worked out and somehow I pulled it....making it top of my class. WTF???
Here is a tip. If you can, try and read the chapter in that BIG book the day before your instructor is going to lecture about it. That way, you can ask certain question that will really really help.
And yes, I know a lot of paramedics that took extra time to get things finished. And yes, they are great medics.
Don't freak out about medic school. It was actually pretty fun for me, even with all the crap going on at the time.
