  • A peptic (stomach) ulcer is often worse on an empty stomach and improved with eating or antacids. Often worse while sleeping. Studies have shown that most ulcers are caused by a bacteria named H. Pylori, that lives in the stomach. Like most infections, stress happers ability to fight bacteria, and likewise worsens ulcer symptoms.
Other than anything that improves immune function, several studies have shown that drinking cabbage juice (1 liter a day in divided doses) can cure the infection in as little as 10 days.
