Deviated septum or stuffy nose?!
Question: I have had a stuffy nose for years. My hubby says it's at least as long as we've known each other and that's seven years. Anyway, it's worse at night usually but it's never completely clear. The only thing that really works are Breatheright strips. Those things work awesome for me. I wonder if I have a deviated septum. My doctor doesn't think it's allegies. I've just been living with this problems for years but I think I want to do something about it. If I had surgery for a deviated septum, would it be a lot more complicated to get my nose made smaller?

I had the same problem with a stuffy nose for years before I was correctly diagnosed and treated for a deviated septum. Go to a reputable ENT doctor who knows what he's doing. I went through 3 doctors over the course of 8 years before I met a doctor who was so upset over the fact that my problem had been misdiagnosed. After the surgery, my breathing improved significantly. My nose doesn't look any different from the outside, but it is straightened out on the inside. I don't think it would present any complications if you were planning on getting a nose job, however I would be sure to mention it to my plastic surgeon to be on the safe side.
i have a deviated septum and am getting surgery for it. i can hardly breath out of one nostril. you should go to a nose doctor and have him look at it. you could have it.
