A cast lasts 6 weeks; but sometimes they put a soft walking cast on for a bit longer if the sprain is bad. It takes 6 weeks to heal a broken bone; a sprain that is very bad (grade 3-4) may actually take longer to heal & require physical therapy. A simple (grade 1) sprain will be much better in a few weeks.

depends where the injury is and how severe. Often no need for a cast at all. If required 6 weeks is common for a simple fracture
