My sister had a problem with recurrent tonsilits. However, she would have it 3 or 4 times a year for many years. She got a number of infections of her tonsils and eventually they remained swollen and would not go back to their normal size. Because of this, the doctor said it was much easier for her to catch tonsillitis and other infections because the enlarged tonsils picked up more virus particles than normal sized ones.

A while back it was very common to remove tonsils, however now they like to do it as a last resort. My sister had constant infections of her tonsils for almost 20 years and when she was 23 she was referred to a specialist who finally agreed she'd be better off if they took out her tonsils. Since then she has said it is the best things she could have done and wish she'd done it much earlier.

You can talk to the doctor but it is common for children to have tonsillitis. Unless she gets several more infections, they likely won't consider taking her tonsils out yet. My sister was told there is a lot of blood involved in removing tonsils and there are risks, so that is why they now do it only as a last resort. Apparently however, it is easier to do when younger..

Depends on her age. Under 12? Do it. If she is older, don't. The older you are are more you bleed. An adult can bleed to death. It will help her out if you get it done while she is young, so that she won't get sick as much as an adult. But if she is too old, it is too risky to do and she may well grow out of it.
