I think i am addicted to computer?!

Question: i think i am addicted to computer itself
i started playing computer games since i was second grade so ive been playing for a while

i am pro at almost any game, but still maintain all honor courses and straight A's in school
but recently, i thought i was gaming too much because in my history test my score was below average and the night before the test i was busy playing instead of studying for it

so i tried to quit it, but it was like a piece of metal to a magnet; i kept on going to my computer on and on and i couldnt stop on my own
it was like.."i will play this round and im done." after that round "another one then im really done" so and so and i end up wasting hours unproductive

so i finally decided and gave all my games away to my friend
but the problem still continued..i cannot stop sitting on my computer..i dont play games, of course, because i cant, but i still waste hours doing facebook...etc and i cannot stop.

ne suggestions?
i dont want councilling...

First try to change your schedule and day around so you aren't around the computer as much. Do your homework in another room if possible. If you usually use it at a certain time or something, try be in a different room at that time. If you feel the urge to use it, try to distract yourself with something else or wait as long as possible. Keep the computer and your internet unplugged unless you really need to use it if that is possible in your house.

Try to keep your usage to a new time schedule, maybe get a timer or something, you can only use the computer for so long every day. Set some goals to use it less. Gradually reduce the time every day until you're at a better level. Maybe try to compete with yourself to see how long you can stay OFF the computer instead of on it, keep a record of some kind, and reward yourself with something fun (not computer related) if you meet your goals. Don't beat yourself up if you use it too much, just start over the next day.

Sit down and make a list of stuff you could be doing instead of computer. Maybe a list of the bad things that go with using the computer too much, and one of some good distractions if you are using the computer too much. You could try putting an extra copy of the list by your computer to motivate you.

That turned out way longer than I thought it would, and maybe not all of it is useful but hopefully it helps a little:) good luck

yea u are addicted. but its all good there are MANY MANY MANY other people who r also addicted, including me.

it will educate you!

plus.. if you don't want on..
* call a friend, and talk.
* get a girlfriend
* run on the treadmill until you throw up or fall over.
* have friends over
* help your parents clean..
* do the facebook/myspace challenge; dont go on for a long time and see how many messages and comments and pic comments you get.. like dont go on for a week and see what happens! [ but tell everybody im going away.. leave tons of stuff! ]
* dont worry about it :]

I think I'm addicted too. I spend way too much time on things like Yahoo Answers.
