What do you know about lasik and laser?!

Lasik is truly a blessing for those who can't wear contacts and are really bothered by glasses. It is pretty much routine now. But I do want you to remember one thing: You get what you pay for as far as lasik is concerned. Don't go for any of those 2 for 1 deals. Get a good ophthalmologist who has done at least 100 lasiks. I disagree with the first poster. I say get both eyes done at once. See what the doctor recommends. Remember you're going to have a great doctor who you respect 100%. Good luck! :)

I was also afraid of the surgery. I decided to get only one eye corrected so I would still have one eye left "natural." That was 14 years ago. I haven't had any problems with my eye but did have to have a touch-up surgery after 2 years.

If you do decide to have surgery, please don't have both eyes done at once. Why take that risk?

I think it cost $1,000 but I can't remember.
My mom got it.

The procedure lasts 10 minutes.
For one or two weeks (can't remember exactly) you have to drop these two types of drops in you eyes every feel hours and wear a goggle they give you. (It's to protect your eyes)

You're also not allowed to drive, use the computer, watch TV read, or anything else that involves using your eyes for a week. So you pretty much sleep around for a week.

My mom was scared, but now she can see perfectly.

You have to be 21 to get the surgery and it doesn't always work 100% of the time. I guess if you can see anything without your glasses, it may be worth it. I think I might get it later, glasses are such a pain.

You can always schedule an appointment with one of the doctors to talk about the risks and learn more info on it.

these girls make this surg sound much worse then it is. it has evolved phenomenally in the past few years. although it is gonna cost more then $1000. its totally safe as long as you use the drops prescribed to you. you can see as soon as its done and the only reason not to drive that day is if the office gives you a mild sedative to calm you down. i work in an office that does lasik. i watch it done to at least 40 people per week and thats only because we only do it twice a week. its totally safe. get a lasik eval where ever you live. they are usually free. if you go some where that you have to pay just to be evaluated, they probably want you for your money.. my boss has done over 30,000 eyes!!
