You can only do so much to help someone...

An eating disorder is the same as Meth Addiction or Alcoholizm... If they refuse to seek treatment there is very little you can do about it.

Is there any way you can do an Intervention with her family and other friends? There are national organizations for eating disorders that might be able to get you in touch with a profeshional to help you confront her.

If this has been going on for FIVE YEARS then it might be time to be firm, put your foot down, and tell her that either she seeks treatment or you have no other option then to cut all contact with her.

If she doesn't do it of her own free will then the treatment won't work.

Explain to her that what she is doing to herself is too much for you and her avoidance and unwillingness to get help is damaging to YOU and you can no longer sit by and watch her self destruct...

It might be the only way that she will listen...

If this friend is under age, you need to tell her parents. you may feel like a rat but you could be saving her life!!! that would be a real friend to her, as opposed to keeping the secret!!!!
