Answers: e.g. your forehead doesn't smell after a marathon?

The sweat glands under your arms (and in your crotch) are known as apocrine sweat glands. They produce not only normal sweat, but also a special, thicker kind of sweat. This special sweat contains substances that are really tasty to the bacteria that normally live on your skin. The smell of underarm sweat is actually the smell of the waste products produced by these bacteria as they enjoy your yummy sweat. It's kinda gross, but it's true!

Armpits have apocrine sweat glands - they are the type that allow bacteria to grow and cause odor. Palms and most other areas of the body have eccrine glands - they sweat, but don't cause odor.

The apocrine glands are found in the axilla (armpits), groin, and peri-anal region. These kick into gear in puberty and continue to produce sweat throughout life.

The armpit has a different type of sweat glad than the rest of the body. The glands are apocrine glands. They are found only in your underarms and your anus. (another sweaty place)

Anyway. . .they are the glands which secrete carbohydrates and proteins. . .which the other areas of your body don't. . .

the smell roots from this excretion. . .

The other areas of the body don't secrete this items or fatty acids. . .they therefore do not have the offensive odour. . .
