Answers: I've got alot on my mind. How can I wind down? I really need the sleep.

Omg, I know what you mean. I will have so much on my mind and not sleep for 3 or more hours on end. To try and sleep I listen to relaxation music, literally try to clear my mind of everything, watch tv until I am desperately tired, or write down what is on my mind so everything is worked through when I'm done so then I can sleep and that help's the most

go for a light jog. sometimes when i cant sleep i focus on "black" like close your eyes and try to only see black, when you feel your mind drift to other thoughts stop it and try to think of just a dark image like looking into starless sky.. it removes the thought from your head and helps you focus on nothing, which calms your mind

If you've always had this problem I would say talk to you're Dr and see about getting on something like Trazadone as a sleep aid....and if its just something recent hopefully everything can get straightened out for you and you can get back to you're regular sleep patern. That sucks when its all out of whack I've had that happen before.

warm milk and honey after a long warm bath. If it's more serious than that - i suggest seeing your doctor and maybe some sort of sleeping tablet / aid.

Tea helps me, or take a nice warm shower or bath. but sometimes the night owl gets to me too.

see a doc

Without drugs? If you are tossing and turning get up for a while. Don't watch TV because that just keeps your mind racing. Try a cup of herbal tea or some warm milk. Read a boring book. Don't watch the clock. Next day try not to take any naps then when bedtime comes you will be really ready to sleep. If you exercise don't do it too close to bedtime.
Herbally--Try valerian root, it's great stuff for helping you relax and unlike taking benadryl doesn't leave you groggy in the morning.

Crack is Wack
Listen to your fav song, just lay down and that should do the trick!

honestly if you are not allergic to the medicine Benadryl.. take 2 pills 30min before you plan on going to sleep... yes benadryl is for allergies, but it is also the main ingredient to all of the over the counter medications also... (and it's cheaper than buying those rediculous pricer brands just because they say sleep on them) I wouldn't be lieing.. I work in the Pharmacy, and I myself use this technique when I can not get good sleep. If you are weary with my response and want to double check with your doctor or local pharmacist you can, and he will agree. It's better then jumping to a controled pharmacy prescription sleep aid which you can get addicted to.

Hope this helps..
Sweet dreams... :-)

Try a warm Epsom salt bath (it a muscle relaxant), hot decaf green tea, read something non-important like a magazine, put on some calm music, darken room, and no TV. When you finally lay down, just close your eyes and picture yourself sleeping. Hopefully, you'll fall asleep.

Alot on your mind in terms of quantity or quality? Try categorizing and priotizing them. Make a list of what can be resolved and what you need to do. Done. If there is something that needs to be resolved before you can rest then take care of it. Anything else can wait until morning. Accept the things that are on your mind and if they come back just remember your list and acknowledge your action item and give it its place in your priorities. Just remember it will keep until after you have had your rest and make that choice. Good luck
