Question: Has anyone ever died of cutting off his own ear?
My friend says he wants to cut off his ear and I tell him not to but he wont listen.
What are the dangers.

Tell him not to take things too seriously if he's depressed, and he's stronger then that, next if nothing works, refer him to a doctor, pronto.

I dont think he will die, it will most likely hurt like hell though. And if he doesnt look after the wound it could get infected etc

By cutting his ear he is not going to die. Bleeding will stop after some time because of boold clotting. The only result will be he will loose his ear and he will have to be ugly for his lifetime or he will have to spend a huge amount on plastic surgery. The best way to die in this world is by hanging oneself. Not joking. Hanging is the least painful method. Thats why in most countries you have hanging as death penalty becuase it is easiest and least painful.
although you may not die from cutting your ear off other things can happen to cause death such as going into shock, bleed to death and so on. so with that said my answer would be YES YOU CAN DIE IF YOU CUT OFF YOUR EAR.

No, he won't die of blood loss. But he will die of embarrassment exactly 2.6 seconds after realizing that he's gonna look like a freak for the rest of his life. He'll grow out of this idiotic phase in a while, but his ear won't grow back. Doh!
