Is 98.5 high for a temp.?!


Question: cause i have an ear thermometer. and one ear is 98.5 and the other is 97.3? is that normal or what? and by the way i dont feel so great. horrible headache. really hot etc.

98.6 is the average person's normal body temp. However, some people can run lower than than and have a fever at 98.6. If you feel headachy and horrible, take it easy and rest. If the headache doesn't go away, try some Tylenol.

Don't forget lots of liquids...helps flush out the bugs and keep the fever down.

there is alway minor fluctuation but 98.6 is normal.

98.6 is generally considered normal.

Fevers are there for a reason (to fight an infection) so most doctors advise letting it run its course. Usually you should wait until its around 103 to start worrying about taking something....but if the other symptoms are unbearable then go ahead and take tylenol or advil.

Ear thermometer and rectal thermometers read differently, I forgot which way they differ, one you add to and one you subtract from. I think you add to the ear and subtract form the rectal, don't know how much. You can check it out on line or someone else may know.===
