When you are sick, what types of food should you eat?!

Question: For a cold, which may be one illness you may have here are some tips, followed by flu (stomach) tips.

Avoid dairy, beef, pork. Favor chicken and fish, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Avoid pasta, bread, and potato. Favor rice and barley.

Drink clear liquids, including chicken broth, water, 7 -up.

Avoid chocolate and oranges if you have a sore throat. Strep loves to be "fed" chocolate and orange.

Take echinacea for one month on and 2 weeks off and then repeat. This builds immune system. Check bottle for dosages.

Golden seal can be taken 2 weeks and repeated after one week off but it is not for long term use. It is a natural antibiotic. But only take it for 2 weeks to avoid detrimental effects on your liver and kidneys. Drink lots of water if you are taking goldenseal. Check bottle for dosages.

You can get these at most natural foods stores like vitamins and herbal supplements.

For stomach flu:

Drink clear liquids. Fast for a day. Suck raw ginger for nausea. Eat light meals and thin broths when you can keep food down.

And most importantly, rest, rest, rest. If you have to go out and it's cold where you live, cover your head and stay warm. The most body heat escapes through the top of your head.

Good luck. Hope you are well for the holidays. Enjoy them!

It probably depends on what sickness you have. Check with your doctor.

B bananas
R rice
A applesauce

Here are some good things to eat when your sick.

garlic

soup
bread

If you have a fever, no dairy products. When your body overheats, it causes the dairy products in your body to curdle. If you aren't feeling well, just eat whatever your body can handle. A lot of people eat chicken noodle soup because it's easy to digest.

If you have something like a cold or flu, avoid dairy products (bacteria). Drink plenty of water and have some soup that has broth (no clam chowder). Basically stay away from junk food (sweets, sodas, greasy food). Hope this helps, and hope you feel better soon.

You should go on a water fast, no food. Food uses your energy to digest.

Depends on the illness. With a mild cold, you should avoid dairy (you will notice it will contribute to the amount of mucus in your body) and protein. Anything that is cooked or over processed, like meat or dairy, will take enzymes from your body in order to digest it. This in turn weakens your body and makes the healing process that much slower.

With a flu, it is best to have fluids only. If you notice, you rarely feel hunger with a fever. It is best to drink lots of water, and if you must drink juice either have it made fresh from a juicer or make sure store-bought juice is NOT from concentrate.

Good items to juice/drink as juice when sick:
Beets
Celery
Ginger
Garlic
Lemons
Limes
Oranges
Mangoes

If you have a stomach flu, the only thing that works to keep my "puking" to a minimum is colloidal silver. I take three drops every hour. You have to stay with it and stick to an hourly dosage. Ginger also helps settle the stomach - and it's best to just chew on it rather than drink the tea.

Colloidal silver works like an anti-biotic but without killing all the bacteria in your body. We all have "good" bacteria in our bodies mostly in our intestines, which contribute to about 70% of our immune system. When we take anti-biotics, we are killing all of this good bacteria and the only way to get it back is to put it back in your body with "pro-biotics". This is why when you go on anti-biotics as a woman you are told to eat yogurt to prevent a yeast infection - yeast infections can be internal and external when all the bacteria in your body is gone. Yogurt has lots of good bacteria in it that you can use to replace the good stuff that is being killed.

Also, coconut oil has caprylic and lauric acid - both really great anti-bacterial ingredients. I also recommend bee pollen and royal jelly for infections.

As when you are NOT sick, you should not eat sugar or any refined carbs when ill. You should try your best to cut down on them entirely, because refined sugar/carbs go into your system as foreign substances, and your body must fight to figure out what to do with it.

Hope this helps!
