Why does having a cold make you so tired?!

Question: I'm on the verge of catching a cold. I'm really tired. I got home from work around 2. I tried to watch tv for awhile, but couldn't keep my eyes open. Next thing I knew, I fell asleep and didn't get up until 7 p.m. It's now about 10 p.n. and I'm still really sleepy.

As a kid Mom used to say when you have a cold you need fresh air and not sleep all day. But I can't help it...I'm so tired.

because a cold takes most of your energy because your body is working really hard to get rid of it.

Jymin is right. Plus, if your body is telling you to sleep, go to bed NOW!!! you need the rest to get better. If you don't your body won't be able to fight off the cold.
