Does a 99.9 or 100 count as a fever?!

Question: Yesterday, my baby cousin got it and I was always near her.
Now, I have been feeling extremely run down, weak, excessive chills, and whenever I breath it look's like I need a lot of energy to do it. Also, I took my temp. and went it from 89.0 to 99.0, now i have a feeling it will be higher.

AND to top it off, I am on my vacation

99.6 and above they will not use your blood for donation, so that's what I consider a fever. there are different normals for everyone - most people have a lower temperature than 98.6 - usually you will see a lot of 97's. in the future, you can take your temp when you are healthy for a baseline temp to determine fever. when I was young, my normal was slightly above 98.6 - like 99.4, so anytime I wanted to, I told my mom I was sick and got to stay home from school. I got good grades, so she never caught on.

a temp that runs lower than 98 is worse than running over. so if you were at 89, i would have called a dr.

a slight fever, up to say 100 is supposed to be good. the fever actually helps fight off the cold/flu germ.

but if it's 101 or more, i would take some aspirin.

get to 104, i would go to hosp, emerg. if aspirn/tylenol etc does not bring it down.

i hope you feel better real soon. get lots of rest/fluids and keep an eye on that temp.

Yes it does, the usually temperature of our bodies consist of 96 degrees Fahrenheit.

A low fever is sometimes good because it is the healing process of the body- it is killing whatever is tearing down the immune system. But if it gets above 105 it can be fatal.

That seems like quite a jump from 89 to 99. Are you sure you had a temperature of 89.0 That is very low. If you run such a low temperature then 99.9 would definetely be considered a fever. If your temperature goes higher you should see your Dr. You could have pneumonia or bronchitis.GL

Normal body temperature is around 98 degrees. High temperature is considered anything above 101 in an adult. Before it gets that high try taking some paracetamol or ibuprofen. These drugs are antipyretics which means they help to lower your body temperature. Both those drugs will also tend to stop the aches and pains too.

Get well soon

Read about fever in the source. The 89 temp was erroneous, it happens all the time with digital thermometers.

Judging from the language in your question, I assume that your live in the US. The whole country has a cold. (A bit of exaggeration)

Not for adults, but for infants and toddlers it does so!
