Question: What is the job like?
I want a job that is easy going, interesting, helping people, but also makes a decent amount of money. I thought about medical school, but having a family is very important to me, and I know it would be very hard.

i have NOOO idea but i hope you fund a job that you like and that you benifit from both through money and from a job that you like...i think it is very good that you want to be able to spend time with your family and still be able to help other people!

my dad is a optometrist and it is not easy going. he puts a lot of hours in. if you want to do something in the medical i would consider nursing, theres lots of different choices out there for being a nurse and you don't have as much liability. you will also make a good living and you will have good job stability. but that's just my opinion if being a optometrist is your dream go for it
I would most likely consider nursing, get a master's in it and you can make as much as an opt!!

It will not be easy going to school to become an optometrist. the classes are hard and it takes usually 5 or 6 years of study. After you finish school though you will have a good job that will not be hard, in that you will not come home very tired like you would if you were a logger or a fisherman.
Talk to a local optometrist and maybe they can help you. Google to find schools that give the degrees and find out more about the course loads etc.
