Why do i feel really dizzy before passing into sleep?!

Question: Well, I have determined that I have anxiety, and it has came recently. I am trying to get to a psychologist about it, but until then, I have a problem. Sometimes when I am really tired, I am about to fall asleep and I get a strong feeling of vertigo inside my head an I must open my eyes and start over. As far as I know, this feeling could have always been there. The anxiety has made me so normal things seem dangerous, and this might be one, but I'm just too afraid to try to go to sleep after feeling it. I have a couple other symptoms of the anxiety, but I think this is the worst.

Hi. It sounds like you're not getting enough sleep on a consistent basis. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night is required, if you want to live a long, healthy life. Sleep deprivation shortens life-spans, according to the latest research on the subject. Stress and anxiety could be contributing factors as well. But, before going to sleep, sit in a comfortable place, take a deep breath and let it out slowly; think about something relaxing and calming (i.e. a beautiful island with calm ocean water, etc.), and put some relaxing music on the stereo and completely relax, let all your worries and concerns go, while you listen to calm, relaxing music playing softly in the background, close your eyes, and visualize yourself in this calm, relaxing place. When you feel completely relaxed, then go to sleep. Try this on a regular basis and put yourself on the same sleep schedule every night. For example, if you go to sleep @ 9:00 p.m. Monday evening, then, go to sleep @ the same time Tuesday evening, and every evening thereafter. Just make sure that you are relaxed: calm, cool, and collected; that you follow this regimen on a nightly basis and that you get 7-8 hours of restful sleep on a regular basis. Hope this helps. Good luck! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2008!

lay off the drugs

You may have very low iron, you could be anemic.
Just take some iron pills and eat a lot of meat.

I get that too sometimes. You just feel like you are spinning and its almost impossible to fall asleep. Usually I just sit up or go walk around a bit and it fades in a few minutes. I never really associated it with anxiety but I guess it makes sense.

Probably since breathing is slowed down you are not getting the regular air to the head. When you have lack of air coming to the head it can make u feel light headed. Probably the case.

It could be that when you lie down too fast, your blood 'pools' and your headache starts. In running, if you just ran a long distance, you NEVER sit down right after. Other wise, your blood will 'pool' and you get a bad headache.
