In Medicine, what does "code red" mean?!
Question: What about
code blue
code white
code black?
Answers: What about
code blue
code white
code black?
>code red is if there is a fire in the hospital or if there has been a disaster (bomb [not in the hospital but in the vicinity] meaning the hospital will soon be receiving critical patients).
>Code Blue is if a Patient goes into heart failure or cardiac arrest, where CPR must be initiated ASAP.
> Code black as you said is if there is a bomb threat IN the hospital, or if there has been a nuclear attack in the vicinity.
> Code White is just if you have an uncoorperative patient (the patient is violent or intoxicated on drugs, etc), where you may require additional hospital personelle to restrain the patient.
Thats pretty much the main ones
code blue means someone is dying i dont know about the other ones
FIRE
Actually different hospitals can vary on the codes they use...
Usually
Red = Fire
Blue = Cardiopulmonary Arrest ( means not breathing and/or heart stopped )
Black = Bomb Threat
Orange = Psyche patient or someone acting violently and/or may hurt self or others. All depends... different hospitals have different definitions on when to use this type.
One hospital I worked at used Numbers for their codes and not colors... That was really stupid! I hated that place.
Im not sure what the White means... I dont have any of my badges with a cheat sheet on me right at the moment... But if you dont work at a hospital... then you DONT NEED TO KNOW :))
Where I work:
Blue - adult respiratory/cardiac arest
Green - pediatric respiratory/cardiac rest
Black - bomb threat
Red - fire
White - potential pediatric/neonatal abduction
Orange - missing patient
