Most pharmacies sell those "Allergic to..." bracelet or necklaces. I believe there is a card with them to put in your wallet. Make sure any health care provider is aware of this ( family doctor, dentist, eye doctor) and marks your chart with this and any other allergy you may have. Also, any time you are admitted to the hospital ( ER or inpatient) they should give you a second ID bracelet stating your allergies.

i would say to carry a card- my husband is allergic to vicadin and morphine. the easiest thing to do would just be to put it on a business card size paper and put it where your driver's license is. that way they'll see it when they go to identify you.

You should actually be wearing a medical alert bracelet. If you are found unconscious somewhere, a bracelet is going to be easier to spot than a card. Check with your local pharmacist for the best advice.

yea go to a doctors office and they can help us or better yet get a bright color sticky and stick it on part of ur wallet inside tape it down..like when u open it or w/e def good idea im allergic to demerol.. which i found out the hard way when i was given it in the ER one nite.. anyway do that good idea.. can save ur life.. nice thinking..

I would suggest you talk to your doctor and:
have a
1) card in various places (house, car, etc.).
2) buy a bracelet at the mall (less than 10 bucks in some places) w/ the information inscribed in it in your purse.
3) visit the local DMV (on-line) and see if it can be placed in the license.
and/or
4) inform your family and trusted friends w/ this. If anyone places a call after they have ID'd you they might give the information that could save your life.

Make sure what you are experiencing is a true allergy. A lot of patients report being allergic to morphine or codeine and it is not true allergy and only side effects like nausea or itching. Often these people are on derivatives of morphine like hydrocodone and oxycodone. So, they don't have true allergies. On the other hand, if you get raised hives or respiratory arrest, then you are really allergic. I would were a necklace listing your allergy. The necklace can be worn under the clothing and not seen. If something happened and you had to go to the hospital in an emergency, the nurses would see the necklace when they examine you. I would also carry a wallet card and tell all of your close friends and family about the allergy so that they can warn the health care people if you are not able to tell them the information yourself.
