What is blood in phlegm a sign of?!

Question: first thing that comes to mind is pulmonary tuberculosis.

u have phlegm ( there is obviously an infection)..plus blood (TB bacilli eating away ur lungs)...

are u having fever frequently? are you losing weight? are u having cough for more than 2 weeks? easily fatigued? are u in close contact with someone who has TB? is the phlegm tinged with blood or is it mixed? do you have small nodules (cyst like bumps) along the neck or behind the ears?

if u have at least one of these signs and symptoms, have a PPD (a skin test), a chest Xray, and a sputum smear exam.
consult an MD. Pulmonary TB is fatal.

have it ruled-out before thinking of other diagnoses.

get well soon! goodluck!

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOOD....
See a doctor.

might be TB, go see a doctor

Blood-tinged mucus in a healthy nonsmoker usually indicates a mild infection. Indeed, the most common cause for coughing up blood is the least serious
