Is it true that doing this can cause someone to have a heart attack?!

Question: My mom is a nurse and she says when she would go to give a really constipated person a suppository or enema, and she had to take out some of their #2 to fit the suppository or enema in, she would always be very careful not to stick her finger up too far because if she were to hit the vagus nerve, she could cause the person to have a heart attack. Well, that is quite alarming to me, because alot of times when I get constipated, I stick my fingers up there, and I've never been careful not to go too far, and don't some people stick their fingers and other things up there during sexual activity? So is this true? Is this a really dangerous thing to do?

Well, kind of. The Vagus nerve, when stimulated, can cause what is called a vagal reaction, which causes a slow down of the heart rate and a drop in blood pressure. This could be life threatening in certain patient populations, but I don't know if 'heart attack' is the proper terminology, though I can see how she would use it to keep things simple for laymen.

No.

That's gross, by the way. There is no reason for you to be sticking your fingers in there. Take a laxative, geez.

I think this is one of the weirdest questions i've come across.

First of all, get your fingers away from your anus. Unless you like that sort of thing. If so, get a guy friend to take care of that for you.

Secondly, try that on a guy, and he'll *** automatically. lol It's true. No heart attack.

It shouldn't matter whether or not that causes a heart attack because you shouldn't be putting your finger in your anus anyway.
