Story Research; looking for a non-addictive drug that .......?!

Question: Hi all,

I'm writing a story in which one of my main characters is unknowingly drugged. What I need him to do is become overly paranoid and semi-erratic, so that he makes a really bad split-second decision he'd never make consciously. He will be slightly buzzed, if that helps any, but he is a cop, so he's prone to making good choices.

Nothing seriously addicting, because the drug isn't the highlight of the story.

Thanks for all your suggestions :)

LSD (Acid) can cause hallucinations and can sometimes cause a person to hear noises. It's not addictive and sounds right for the situation. It can come in liquid form and can be put in drinks or food.
