Diarrhea may result from a number of causes during pregnancy. The more common culprits include a lactose intolerance, dietary or hormonal changes or sensitivities to certain foods while pregnant

Diarrhea in Late Pregnancy
Many women report having diarrhea right before they start labor. This may be the body's way of preparing room for delivery. Diarrhea that is severe may also result from viruses or food poisoning. Some women find that sugar free candies or other artificial products can contribute to bowel problems in late pregnancy. If you find you suffer from chronic diarrhea during pregnancy you may want to re-evaluate your diet.

Some women suffer from diarrhea for a period of time only to suddenly develop watery diarrhea. While unpleasant, this is often the body's way of readjusting itself properly. Chronic constipation can result in a condition called fecal impaction, where the stool partially obstructs the bowels. Typically women experiencing this have other symptoms like nausea, vomiting or abdominal bloating. You may need to seek the advice of your caregiver if this is the case.

You can suspect food poisoning as the culprit if your diarrhea comes on suddenly and violently but clears up within a 24 hour time frame. Pregnant women are also more susceptible to stomach flu and related disorders during pregnancy.

Treating Diarrhea During Pregnancy
If you do come down with diarrhea during pregnancy you'll want to make sure you remain hydrated. Be sure to drink plenty of water or hydrating fluids like Gatorade. Bland foods that can help bind and resolve mild cases of diarrhea include rice, toast or bananas. Be careful you don't consume too much of these products however, as you might find yourself constipated in a few days.

If you ever experience diarrhea accompanied by pain or fever you should be sure to contact your healthcare provider immediately. The same is true if you notice that your stool contains mucous or blood in it. This is a sign that something more complicated is happening that may require treatment.

Preventing Diarrhea During Pregnancy
You can prevent constipation related diarrhea from impacted bowels by eating a diet that is well balanced and contains plenty of fiber. Many women find they are constipated during pregnancy in part because of their prenatal vitamins, which contain high levels of iron that is often binding.

Foods rich in fiber include fruits and vegetables. Some women find it helpful to drink prune juice or eat plenty of salads during pregnancy, which can help alleviate constipation during pregnancy. You should also be sure to drink plenty of water during pregnancy, which will help keep things regular and flowing. Constipation often results from dehydration or too little fluid intake during pregnancy. Be sure to watch your intake of caffeinated beverages including pop or coffee, which can contribute to dehydration. Eating foods high in fiber and drinking plenty of water will also help reduce any side effects of constipation, which may include hemorrhoids during pregnancy.

if you ate something your alergic to - this could be a reaction!

ew i was eating too... i was just so curious i could help myself

i was eating and i looked this question so theres one possible reason

Food, stress, hormones.

Bad food, virus. Ummmm...dunno. Why not get another doctor?

Over drinking prune juice. Ex-Lax?

eating too much hot sauce. the acid burns up all the food inside you and there u go diarrhea

take pepto bismo max

water, water, water, flush it out and stay hydrated

oh dang i was eating a taco (does a mouth poot aka pukes)

digesting soap is a huge cause.
dish soap is such an easy one to consume, for instance if you are washing your dishes and odnt rince them properly then the soap stays on the dishes and comes off on your food.
or when in a bath or shower.

Sometimes, as strange as it seems, diahrrea is caused by constipation. Try some prune juice if you think you might be.

my guess would that you had eaten something that did not agree with you or maybe you might have a touch of the stomach flu that is going around. If this is not much help i would maybe go on to web md and check it out on there for some help. Hope you feel better.

eating something that is off
bad water
fibre intake
allergy
flu/other illness related

too much fruit? stress?

its probably your body changing eat white rice and boiled chicken if you can that should help bind you up

Ok well you could have eatin somthing bad or just didnt agree with you, or you could have eatin somthign that you havent eating ina long time and ur system isnt used to it. I am not sure what else. good luck.

eating foods your not suppoes to.drinking to many liquid bevergies.

Probably something you ate that didn't agree with you.
Anything from too much fruit to too much liquid consumed.
If the doc's not worried, you shouldn't be , either.

if you eat to mutch dairy products or choclate junk food and if you eat to mutch fruit

ate something bad,
stress,
a virus going around,
someone poisoning you
someone poisoning the water you drink
the multivitiam you take
the amount of water/liquids you drink
antibotics
overeating
high fiber diet

aka the possiblities are endless, the key is stay hydrated, forget the cause and if is longer then what the package of pepto says, is green, is red/bloody, or you have a temp then call your doctor back

if not then relax......and dont worry

OMG there could be a thousand reasons. For starters our body chemistry is totally off, so maybe you are allergic right now, try cutting out anything that is high allergic; peanuts, (nuts in general), any dried fruits. Try staying away from wheat for a week and see if that helps. Basically eliminate things from your diet one at a time. Also, increase your starches. Rice will bind you as will bananas. Drink lots of water.

The most common cause of diarrhea is a virus that infects the gut. The infection usually lasts for two days and is sometimes called "intestinal flu." Diarrhea may also be caused by:

Infection by bacteria (the cause of most types of food poisoning)
Infections by other organisms
Eating foods that upset the digestive system
Allergies to certain foods
Medications
Radiation therapy
Diseases of the intestines (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
Malabsorption (where the body is unable to adequately absorb certain nutrients from the diet)
Hyperthyroidism
Some cancers
Laxative abuse
Alcohol abuse
Digestive tract surgery
Diabetes
Competitive running
Diarrhea may also follow constipation, especially for people who have irritable bowel syndrome.

What Are the Symptoms of Diarrhea?
Diarrhea symptoms can be broken down into uncomplicated (or non-serious) diarrhea and complicated diarrhea. Complicated diarrhea may be a sign of a more serious illness.

Symptoms of uncomplicated diarrhea include:

Abdominal bloating or cramps
Thin or loose stools
Watery stool
Sense of urgency to have a bowel movement
Nausea and vomiting
In addition to the symptoms described above, the symptoms of complicated diarrhea include:

Blood, mucus or undigested food in the stool
Weight loss
Fever
Contact your doctor if you have prolonged diarrhea or a fever that lasts more than 24 hours. Also see your doctor promptly if vomiting prevents you from drinking liquids to replace lost fluids.

If your doc isnt to worried, dont be either...

there are really too many possible causes to name them all. try sipping some 100% pure purple grape juice at room temperature for a day or two, and it will usually put a stop to the problem.
and get plenty of rest for yourself and your baby.
Best Wishes, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Ask the doc if you can take Immodium AD, it is an antidiarrhea medication. Otherwise just eat a few bananas which may be better to try first.
