Why is it that if...?!

Question: If I sit down for even a few minutes, and I stand back up, I get sooo lightheaded and dizzy, that I feel like I'm going to pass out. This used to happen before, but not as bad, now I get extremely dizzy and it lasts for like 30 seconds, then I'm fine; until I sit and stand again. What is this? What am I doing wrong?

Ask your doctor about getting a Tilt Table test... it could be orthostatic hypotension. Basically, when you go from lying down to standing up, or changing position, your blood pressure drops, heart rate speeds up, you get dizzy and black out. The tilt table test (not going to lie, it isn't fun) they lie you flat on a table and kind of put a strap around you, then they put the table from the lying down position to an upright position and see how your body responds.

If that isn't it, try monitoring what you eat and have your blood checked to see if you're anemic or if any levels are off. Another thing that could actually make you dizzy and feel like you're going to pass out could be that you aren't drinking enough water and don't have enough fluids in your body.

Its important to check with your doctor and find out if anything is wrong because you don't want to black out while driving or doing some activity.

above me is right on. It's fairly common. It's your blood pressure.

I have really low blood pressure and that happens to me all the time. People with low blood pressure are prone to dehydration, low blood sugar, and feeling the effects of being tired. The way to avoid those problems is to drink lots of water, have snacks throughout the day, and just be aware that the light headed feeling is more common late at night.
If all you have is light headedness you don't need to worry about going to a doctor.
