I'm peeing a lot today... Why?!

Question: I've been needing to go to the toilet every hour or 2 today and it's not just a little bit, it's a.. well it's a 'normal pee' as in it's not a little bit, it's not a lot.. if that makes sense!!

Anyway this isn't normal for me. I don't normally drink a lot of water (which is bad, I'm trying to fix it) or any other drinks. In the past 24 hours - I had two cups of tea last night and had to pee a few times and this morning I peed twice in two hours then I had another cup of tea, and about a one liter bottle of water today (spaced out) and a glass of coke before.

Is this normal, peeing so much when I'm not really drinking a lot? What could be other possible causes? I don't think I'm pregnant - I just had my period the other week. My mum has a UTI at the moment (she is prone to them!) but going to the toilet is not painful and the colour is normal. I've also been feeling really fatigued today and have just lounged around at home.. Any thoughts?

You probably had some extra water weight that you weren't aware of.

Yes, having high sugar levels can make you pee a lot. But if that were the case you would be extremely thirsty too. A person with diabetes mellitus with high blood sugar starts peeing a lot to rid their body of excess sugar and/or ketones. Which would make you dehydrated and extra thirsty.

There is another type of diabetes, diabetes insipidus, which would cause you to pee a lot. But as with the other, you would be drinking more to make up for it.

If you're curious then go see the doctor. They can usually find out about diabetes through a simple urine test. Or ... do you have a diabetic friend who would be willing to use their meter to test you? Just have them test your blood 2 hours after the last bite of a meal. If it's above 180, you have diabetes mellitus.

I pee a lot more on certain days, and it never means anything. Probably just the cycle of your body, and nothing to worry about.

Don't drink too much water!

tea can make u hav 2 go to the toilet..
u may hav a bladder infection.

Peeing and tired make me wonder about diabetes....I hope that's not it, but you should see a doctor if this doesn't clear up by tomorrow.

It might be just today, slow your roll on them drinks. If you are having the same problems tomorrow, then go seek a doctor.

bladder infection probably . . . drink cranberry juice

there's nothing wrong with peeing.
maybe your body just wants to
de-toxify itself, if that's a word.

or maybe, you are pregnant.

You drink enouigh. You may also have a urinary tract, or kidney, infection. You could still be pregnant. You do have TWO ovaries, and BOTH could drop an egg in the same month. Get to a doctor ASAP.

JULIUS C, why do you have to be so intolerant. This PERSON is asking a perfectly legitimate question and you are getting all huffed up. If I find a question I am not particularly inclined to answer then I don't. What to you is unimportant or whatever, is serious to her.
The anonymity of the site is what gives people the courage to ask questions and even to answer them.
OK to more important things like answering your question, I would get the doctor to give me a test for diabetes, especially if it runs in the family. You could catch it in the early stages and arrest it. Hope it is not that though, and good luck..
Sorry if I were hard on you JULIUS C.
