Ok...gross health question here..??!

Question: So yesterday i ate some pork stuffing, and some green bean casserole which i suspect made me get diarrhea, either that or I caught the stomach flu somehow. I had watery bowels the whole day until 5:30 am the next morning. after it had all gone out i ate a piece of bread and slowly drank a glass of water, and my poo started to solidify a bit. when i woke up this morning i felt okay but i still had some cramping and gas. (which is extremely painful on my stomach/abdomen) so i took some gas meds and continued to eat a piece of bread and water. Then my poo was solid again, but still this sickly pale yellow color so i tried eating a banana with bread and water, and that seemed to help. Now I am still experiencing the gas, and i got some prep. H for my hemmeroids from last night, my question is, what kind of foods are safe to eat after this fiasco? Are nuts okay to eat, or should i lay off them? What should I stay away from? Im scared to eat nething besides bread cuz it might come back.

Don't the holidays just suck? This is an easy one assuming there's nothing else wrong w/ you. Get back to your regular diet, whatever it is, and drink lots of water. Bread is always a good choice. Vitamins w/ food. Healthy diet and water. You'll be fine. Happy New Year! Take it easy.

I would definitely suggest getting some Pepto, firstly, just because that might help get everything solidified. I would stick to crackers, clear-brothed soups, etc.

Whew! I'd suggest eating only when you are hungry and then only soups for a while.

You want to eat foods that would be easy to digest and not have a lot of spices or strong seasonings in them. Bananas are good. So are rice (be careful what you flavor it with), applesauce, dry toast, crackers, dry cereal like Cherios... I hope you get the idea... just stay mild with flavor and not a lot of grease/fat.

Sounds like it could be enteritis, which is an infection of the bowels. As far as diet is concerned the BRAT diet is usually the one suggested. It stands for bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast. Your stool will remain discolored through the course of the infection. It would be a good idea for you to see your doctor just in case it is something more serious.

I've always been told to follow the "BRATY" diet when having and upset stomach and/OR diarreah.

B - Bananas
R - Rice
A - Applesauce
T - Toast
Y - Yogurt

These foods are extremely gentle on the stomach and intestines and yet they give you the nutrition you need and the chemicals your body needs. I've done it with my kids and they respond very well to it.
