Call your pharmacist. He/She will be happy to answer your questions. Night might not mean night. Depending on your prescription night could be 5pm or it could mean 9pm. I don't completely understand taking it before sleep either unless he intends for it to help you sleep.

The best person to speak to is the pharmacist and best of all it is free to talk your pharmacist.

I take the same, but I break it in half: 1 before work and 1 after.
That seems really weird. I've known a lot of people that have taken it, and they all take it while they are awake. You might want to get a second opinion.

It only lasts for a few hrs, so that doesn't make sense to me. If you had trouble sleeping, taking 1/2 or 1 at night will help, but it's not the best sleep med. But I've only used it occasionally in the *daytime* for anxiety.

It says take one at night and as needed, which means take one in the morning to get you through the day, of course this means if it makes you drowsy, obviously don't drive. These medications take time to get in your system and actually start working.

I am not a doctor, so you will have to rely on your best judgment on whether or not my advice is any good.

I personally don't believe in regular doses of lorazepam or any other anti-anxiety medication. Over time, the body becomes tolerant of it, and you have to take more of it to get the same effect.

It should be used as a PRN (as needed). However, do not change any of your dosing before talking to your doctor.

Hi sweety I've taken this drug before because I have the same disorder. I've had to cut the pill in half to be able to function, but then then I got to the point that I didn't like the way the pill made me feel. Now I'm on Buspar. I'm able to totally function and not feel sleepy. Talk to your Dr. o.k but here's a on line medical thing to help you o.k drugs.com it's called that way you can look up your prescriptions and know the side effects I hope I help you.

Lorazepam is very addictive. Do not take it as a sleeping tablet. Take it only when needed like when having a panic attack. For general anxiety rather take Atarax or the newer serotonin re-uptake inhibitor like Cylift. Atarax is used for anxiety but it also has a antihistamine effect. It is not recommended for longer than 4months continuous use. Cylift you can use long term. They are both safe non addictive medicines unlike the Lorazepam.

The idea is that there will still be a little in your system during the day to help suppress the attacks. You take it at night because it makes you sleepy.
