It could be the dry air, but last winter when I was constantly having nosebleeds it turned out that my platelet count (the part of the blood that clots it) had dropped down to nothing for no particular reason.

The doctors were afraid I would die of internal bleeding or a stroke so I was in the hospital for 5 days until they fixed me.

It's called ITP and your friend should go to the doctor to make sure that's not the problem. If everything is okay they can just cauterize his nose and that will help.

Is he having any red freckle like things on his skin? Those are petechiae and they are basically burst blood capillaries under the skin, another sign of ITP.

Getting smacked in the nose or the like unless it is spontanious in which case its a synous problem and to stop it all I know of is to quell the flow pinchi it with a tissue and hold your head up plugging your nose with tissues also works

my brother had that problem. you could either keep putting vasaline in your nose like 3 times a day. or you could have it professionally cauterized. that makes is so you never have another nosebleed again

its probably the dry air but you stop them by pinching your nose on that little part in the middle seems weird but it works and holding your head backwards

Besides high blood pressure and sinus problems it could also be due to weak blood vessels that can be strengthened with citrus bioflavonoids.

Cauterization should only be a very last resort and this involves heat sealing blood vessels by heat fusion with a local anaesthetic.
