What is a cough after two weeks?!

Question: I have had a cough for at least two weeks and it is pretty bad at times. I also have gotten a runny nose at times and presently everytime I breath or cough it feels like my rib is punching my lung. SO, my question is, is this more than just an innocent cough? What other medical thing could it be? And my other question, what can I do to heal this in the next two days of Christmas vacation?
PLEASE don't say "see the doctor and ask".
Thanks much.

Two weeks is the cut off point for an innocent cough. Yup, gotta go "see the doctor and ask" :) If you put it off much longer you could be in real trouble. We don't want that, do we?

Its still a cough.

It could be pnuemonia or bronchitis. I had the same symptoms as you and i thought it was just a cold but after a week i went to the doctor and i had pnuemonia. YOu better go get yourself checked out before it gets any worse!!

It could be broncitus. But listen hon, this is not a place to get some serious medical advice for something you should be seeing a Dr. for. For a cough that has lasted this long and is hurting when you cough, you do need to see a Dr.

Sounds like pneumonia. You need an x-ray!! Since I can't say "See the doctor" ................................ .

Good luck. :)
