Anyone know anything about tongue piercings?!

Question: My friend has a tongue piercing and she's too embarased to ask herself but anyone know what it means when it looks like the inside is coming out the top. its not red and she says it feels fine it just looks weard. We think she might have had an alergic reaction to the plastic ball she had in or is it normal. She got it about 2 months ago. please help.

First, is your friend prone to getting scars? From what it sounds like, though still get it checked if it's truly bothering her, is she might have a build up of scar tissue. The barbell is moving constantly and getting caught on things, getting bitten or she could be sucking on it in her sleep. All of these things can cause little tears and as they heal, scar tissue can sometimes build up. Also, healing care can effect how a piercing will look in the end. Or, if the length of the barbell is too short or too long that can cause some complications as well.

Quality of jewelry is a giant factor. The old saying you get what you pay for really holds true. Ask before you purchase any jewelry if the silicone is implant grade and if the steel is at least a 316L quality. For my piercings I generally only use Tombstone jewelry or LeRoix since I know that it's exactly what I'm paying for.

Needless to say the list of possibilities can go on and on. If you do have questions or concerns, take them to a professional, that's what they're there for.

normal that happens when the tongue moves

Anytime you have any questions about any type of piercing, go back to the piercer, first. They see piercings all day long. They should be able to help you with any concerns, and they will tell you if the area seems abnormal, infected and/or you need medical attention. If you are unable to talk to your piercer, see a doctor.

I had my tongue pierced about 7 years ago, and I have not experienced any problems. My piercing has never looked anything like what you are describing......

It sounds like either an allergic reaction or, more likely, an infection of the wound. She should go to her Doctor or A&E immediately 'cause it could get worse!
