Why do we get grey hairs when we get old? What causes them to become grey?!
Question: The reason is that the cells that produce the color in hair just don't work as well as they used to. These cells are called "melanocytes."
Those melanocytes don't work quite as well as they used to because they're not getting as much of a certain hormone. That hormone has fallen off because of a decrease in another hormone.

Grey hairs do not actually mean you are getting old, the majority of people do get them when they are younger but stress can also be a facotor. I am not completely sure but I believe the hair itself begins to get choked by the scalp closing more on the point the hait is extending from the dermis, the hair either loses color or falls out.
