Plz help me going to poo?!


Question: hello i can never go to the bathroom i do eat fruit i still dont have bowel movements so once a week i take a medicine called lacksetives i take 4 which makes u exression come out but even tho i get scared and i dont go strate away cos i think itll hurt and the amount plz help overcome my fear of going from the pain and help me go everyday i dont try..

Anytime it hurts means you are not getting enough water in your bowels. Drink lots of water everyday and take a stool softener which will keep it from being hard and hurting you. Fruit juice is good for helping you go, especially apple, tomato and orange, anything with pulp. Metamucil or fibercon may be of help also.As a last resort you can take a laxative. Exlax is good but should not be taken everyday. A new one on the market is a laxative called Miralax works really quickly. You might have to take it a day or two before it works but it is very good once you start taking it. Not to be taken everyday. Eats lots of fiber foods like salads, raisin bran, bran flakes, oatmeal, cheerios, etc. you should see a change in bowel habits in a day or two. The pain is there because it is hard, these things will soften it, especially the stool softener. Milk of Magnesia is a good laxative and it comes in cherry flavor if you don't like mint. You can take so much every night just to keep it soft but I would recommend not depending on laxatives except for stool softeners. The foods and juices will help you a lot. try these options I think you will see a big difference.

Drink LOTS of water. At least 10 glasses a day. Stay away form sugar and white flour. That means no cake, cookies, pop tarts. Eat a hi-fiber cereal in the morning. At least 10 grams of fiber. Super WalMarts sell Kashi Go Lean (not the clusters.) It has 10 grams of fiber. You need at least 20 grams a day. Eat and apple or 2 or even 3 a day, WITH the skin. You have to eat veggies too. Any kind frozen, steamed, or raw. If you like munching on carrots, that's good. Eat 2-3. Broccoli or celery or a salad with raw spinach. You want the dark salad stuff. Tell your Mom no iceburg luttuce.

You MUST, MUST exercise every day. 20-25 minutes without stopping. A brisk walk or run outside WITHOUT STOPPING is perfect. If you have a treadmill or stationary bike, great! Start at 10 minutes, and work your way up to at least 20 minutes or much more. This is so important. You have to MOVE.

It is perfectly safe to take a stool softener every day. You can buy them at any drug store. Most have their own brand (generics) which are cheap and great. The ingredient is ducosate sodium 100mgs. They will HELP you, and they are safe and cheap!!

Lastly, if you're still not going (but I'm pretty sure you will be!) get some Miralax. It's in the laxitive aisle with a purple top. you take it twice a day in water (it's a tasteless powder) and I promise, you will be a new kid!! You can ask the pharmacist to help you find it.

I just read this over and I forgot a couple things. About the cereal, Target has it too, and if you're lucky enough to have Trader Joe's they have the Kashi Go Lean as well as Kashi "Good Friends" which has 12 grams of fiber , and Trader Joe's High Fiber O's. They're like Cheerio's but have 10 grams of fiber too! If you need to add sugar, add Equal or Splenda instead. About the exercising, you should work up a sweat. Just so you know! And stretch your arms and legs before and after. It would be perfect if you had a dog you could take outside twice a day!

Sweetie, you are going to feel so much better, and it won't hurt when you go! Please do EVERYTHING I said. They're all parts of the puzzle. Stop drinking soda pop. WATER and Juice. Good luck! Let me know how it's going in a few weeks. Chocolate ice cream is allowed a couple times a week. In fact it MIGHT help you. I hope your Mom knows that you're having this problem.
