Mother and Disability?!

Question: My mother has had sevaral heart attacks and strokes. She is blind in one eye, recently had quadroople bypass open heart surgery, she is diabetic, was diagnosed with MS this month, and is losing feeling in her limbs. My parents are having a hard time financially (the economy is SO messed up). She is in NO condition to get a job. She has been a housewife for years. Do you think she has any chance of qualifying for Disability?

Honestly,,she will have a hard time
My parents are both disabled, while it took my father 2 yrs to get it {fighting with them} along with medicare, my mother is not covered medically. Why?..because she did not work and earn enough points to qualify.
It will be like this, either she will get it right off the bat, or she will have to hire a lawyer {mind you who will take a nice chunk of the money once it is awarded} and fight it. If she has to fight it, she will get a payment from the time she first applied for it, but mind you on this, they do tend {supposedly} pay to much and will ask for some of it back.
The system is Crooked as hell and not fit for those who are natural born citizens

Yea...%100...tell them exactly wat u rote now (csept the messed up economy thingo lol) and yea she will definatley be qualified

its hard i hear to get on disability it depends on your mom's age and the rate of the ms and sicknesses also no one is willing to take a risk hiring a worker with alot of health problems so it may be easy for your mom

my mom has MS and is qualified for disability. ( its a chronic disease we havent found a cure for)

You didn't say where you live, so I'll assume you are US citizens. The answer would be definately yes as long as you meet the income guidelines. If she is blind in one eye that alone would qualify her as legally blind. Being diabetic would also qualify as a disability as would having MS. Being a housewife, she might also qualify as a "displaced housewife". The amount of benefits she would qualify for would depend on what state you live in, but she should certainly qualify for something. The only way to find out is to go down to Social Services and apply. Good luck.

yes with ms she should be able to, I know a few people with it, and they got help,,,,, good luck, call social security, give it a try

Since she has never worked she con not get disability. She can however get SSI which is substitute social income. Go ask social services about it. I believe they are the ones you file with.

On second thought since she is married and your father is getting income she may not be able to. In either case SSI is what you need to ask about.
