Why are yawns infectious?!

Question: mirror neurons. Wikipedia defines them as " a premotor[1] neuron which fires both when an animal acts and when the animal observes the same action performed by another (especially conspecific) animal. Thus, the neuron "mirrors" the behavior of another animal, as though the observer were itself acting. "

so basically, your neurons in your brain see it and they make you mimic it.

That is a good question ,sorry i dont know but when i read your question i yawned ! lol

It's kind of like laughing, when someone else does it, you want to do it. I think it's because of the air that your body wants when you hear someone else yawn. Even fish do it.

I have no idea!
I just Googled it and found this interesting site:

It says you will yawn during/slightly after reading it - I did!
Very strange.

Its an evolutionary mechanism. As social animals, the best thing we can do is fit in - thus if someone yawns, we yawn.
