My doctor wants me to use crutches but my mom won't let me? How can I convin!

Question: I've been suffering for a while now with achy, weak, and at times numb legs.I can barely walk and have been going from specialist to specialist to see what's wrong with me. I went to a neurologist just the other day who suspects MS but will be doing numerous test to rule out that and other things. The doctor told her I should be using a wheel chair or crutches so I can manage my school day.How can I get her to let me use them. I think she's afraid that if her teenager has crutches shes automatically unhealthy.

This is a question of your health! If you need to, talk to your doctor about getting you a pair, or discuss this with your guidance counselor at school. If you need this to get thru your day, you need it! And your health is unchanged whether or not you use the crutches......in fact, not using them may make you more tired and unstable. Your mother really doesn't have a choice-you can not withhold medical care from your child, and medical devices qualify as medical care.

fall right infront of her and say "see i need crutches"

Ring the doctor and explain your predicament. Ask the doctor to write a letter to your mother, explaining the benefits of using crutches.

Wow...she won't let you use them? Even though it helps your pain...I think your mom needs to get over herself and let you use them. Perhaps image means a little too much to her, she needs to worry about your well being, not the way you look with crutches. I'm really sorry this is happening to you. You really have to let her know that it hurts and using them helps with the pain...if she doesn't agree, then tell your doc to talk to her...
