Gallstones? Has anyone had them?!

Question: They found one when i had a scan last year, but said they will leave it unless it causes problems. However for the past week everytime i eat, an hour later i am in awful pain, it starts in my upper stomach and moves to my upper right near my rib cage. I have never had pain like this and it doesn't matter what i eat it happens. I nearly went to A&E last night it was that bad. I went to the doctor today and she said it is probably indesgion type thing and gave my some tablets. It hasn't gone away yet and i tried to eat some lunch after taking tablets and its still there. What shall i do?

go to another doctor get a second opinion or go back and tell yours the drugs aren't working because it could very well be gallstones. I had indigestion with them. I had the gallbladder removed and never felt better. The surgery hurt less then a gall bladder attack.

No I haven't had them, but I know people who have

I think you should make sure they are taking you seriously and have them removed, or is it (destroyed by lazer nowadays), anyhow make sure you keep kicking up a fuss until they get you in.

Your doctor should be struck off. You have classic gallstone symptoms... Often after eating and described as the worst pain you could have.... You need to have your gall bladder out.... Laporascopic ops need a night in hospital but they dont carve you up, just remove it keyhole style.

Go to emergency room. I had gallstones for Thanksgiving and one moved into a bile duct and I had to call ambulance because it hurt that bad. It was a mess getting it done and I was there for 8 days because I had an infected pancreas as a result. But, they took out the gall bladder and now I never have to go through that again. When gall bladder is the problem, doctors seem to have this thing about not wanting to take action until you suffer extreme pain. Don't put up with it. Go have it checked and if necessary removed before a gall stone moves into a duct.

I had them and was told to got on a fat free diet. This eventually worked and they dissapeared!

If the pain is still there chances are it is gallstones....Indigestion would not last this long. I would make an appt. with your primary care physician and ask that they do an ultrasound on your gallbladder. You definitely do not want the gallstones to cause a blockage.

People with any of the following symptoms should see a doctor immediately:

prolonged pain
